We often expect our family, including our extended family — our uncles, aunts, cousins, real siblings, and even our own mothers — to be the ones who cheer the loudest for our achievements. Yet, more often than not, they might offer a polite congratulations, followed by subtle, negative remarks that spark doubt and shake our confidence. Have you ever wondered why strangers seem to celebrate our wins more genuinely, while our own blood relations seem to find ways to diminish them?

This situation can be puzzling and painful, but let’s take a deeper look at what might be happening.

The main reason:Let’s break down

When we achieve something big — a promotion, buying a new house, getting a fancy car, finding the right life partner or even losing weight — we naturally want to celebrate. But the way we communicate these accomplishments matters. If we start self-praising or bragging about our success, we may unintentionally make the other person feel inferior, less important , sparking jealousy and negative feelings.

BUT HOW???

Before we place all the blame on our family members for not celebrating our wins, it’s important to ask ourselves: How are we sharing our success?
